The funeral service for the late Daphne Joyce Mckenzie will be held at Perimere Church. The viewing will be held at 9:00am-10:00am following the service which will be held at 10:00am.

Special Info  Daphne Joyce McKenzie nee McLennan was born on September 25th, 1925 in Plaisance, East Coast, Demerara, Guyana. At an early age, she pursued the profession of teaching. She went to Soesdyke in the East Bank, Demerara of Guyana where she taught at the following schools, St. Mary’s Anglican and Ascension Anglican respectively. Joyce then attended Teacher’s Training College, graduated, and met her husband, Clarence McKenzie in her twenties in Soesdyke. Joyce was then transferred to St. Philips’s Anglican School, Georgetown, where she became a headmistress (principal) until her retirement. Joyce migrated to the U.S.A., and her husband soon followed where she worked at Cush Campus School for 13 years until her second retirement. Joyce was very instrumental in actively raising and overseeing many of her nieces and nephews’ life and education. Left to mourn are the children that she raised: Gloria Hardy, Barbara King, Myrthland Ince, Andrea Thom (deceased), Mark Vaughan, Carlene Vaughan, and grand daughter, Breanna Brown. Siblings: Doris Ince (deceased), Eileen Burkett, and Magnel Thom. Burkett’s: Nieces & Spouses: Burgett, Audrey, Patricia. Nephews & Spouses: Compton, William, Robert(deceased), Roy, and Louis (deceased). Ince’s: Nieces & Spouses: Gloria, Joy. Nephews & Spouses: Edgar (deceased), Maxwell (deceased), Carlton, Claude, Cuthbert, Ronald, Collin, and Owen. Thom’s: Nieces: Andrea(deceased), Sandre. Nephews & Spouses: Keith, Sean, and Troy (deceased). Also, many great -nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great great nieces and nephews. May she rest in peace. Give me the faith and strength to confront the destiny I cannot control. I embrace my destiny.
