Special Info  In the beautiful twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago on April 23rd 1946, Brenda Nevrille Simmons-Drakes was born to Eldica and Joseph Simmons, whom are now deceased. To her family, Brenda was the rock and foundation, she was the glue that kept them together. Before she migrated to the United States in 1975, she attended Claxon Bay Anglican School and then unto Higher Education and Open Bible High School. When Brenda migrated to the United States, like her deceased mother, Eldica Simmons she attended Mount Moriah Spiritual Church. Cooking was Brenda’s passion. It brought her joy to cook, not only for her family but, also for others, she was also a caterer. Brenda’s house was the go-to for a good meal any day of the week. In pursuit to fulfill her passion as cook/chef, Brenda attended various schools. In 1993 she graduated from ABC Training as a Certified Nurses Aide. In 1994-1995 in furthering her education she attended Baruch College where she received her Certification as a Dietitian and also in Computer Science and in 1996 she received her Certification in Food Health Administration from Charter of The American Society. Brenda worked as a Dietitian at Madonna Medical Center, Cabrini Medical Center and Beth Israel Hospital. As much as her passion was cooking, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than life and them in tern loved her the same way. She was their everything, so much that they left their parents home just to live with her. Everyone that came in contact with Brenda, never was treated differently, she showed them love just as she did her children. It will be a hard time as customary for Labor Day her home was where the lime would take place. All kinds of food, souse, roti, pholourie, jerk pork, you named it and she cooked it. It was one of our family bonding time, friends and family near and far, her house was the place to be for Labor Day. Brenda’s home on Eastern Parkway was a revolving door. Anyone who came to visit, her place was opened to them and the floor was his/her bed. It didn’t matter if it was two or ten that showed up at her door, she welcomed all and all were willing to stay room or no room, no one was leaving. Brenda will truly be missed, and her love can never be replaced. She goes on to join her late husband John Drakes, her parents Eldica and John Simmons and her brother Calvin French. She leaves this legacy of love and generosity to her children, Rhonda Peters-Stephen (Husband Glenn Stephen), Sherma Peters, Dexter Peters (Wife Angela Hensley Peters) and Karen Harewood. Her sisters Marva, Lystra Denise, Carol, Patricia and Lynette. Her brothers Michael, Anthony and Terrance. Her Grandchildren: Jullian, Devin, Delliea, Giselle, Stafan, Eric, Sheldon, Martin, Jayden, Derrick, Devonta, Tiffinay and Carleekha. Her Great Grandchildren: Ky, Tyler, Kamyia, Ethan, Milly, Ava, JoJo, and Akari. Her Entire Simmons Family, Nieces, Great Nieces, Nephews, Great Nephews and Cousins. The Peters and Drakes Family along with Adiyel, Keturah, Franny, Shaniya, Kwan and Shanell along a host of close friends.
