Special Info  Obituary Isaiah Irving was born to the late Jim and Ida Irving in Pace, Mississippi on May 16th, 1932. He was the second child of thirteen children. At age three the family moved to Taft, Oklahoma. After completing high school, Isaiah moved to Oakland California, where he resided until he was drafted into the United States Navy on August 13th, 1951. He served honorably in the Korean War on the USS Oriskany for four years as a Radio Operator. After he served his time with the Navy, he went back to school and obtained training in computer operations and worked for AT&T for about 15 years. Years later, Isaiah decided to switch careers and went back to school obtaining certification as a Dental Technician. He worked as a Dental Laboratory Technician until his retirement. Isaiah, also known as “Uncle Ike,” was kind, loving, and caring. He always had a pleasant countenance and a big smile upon his face that allowed everyone in his presence to feel welcomed and at ease. He would always find time to talk with someone about the Bible, sports, his life experiences, and projects that he was working on. Isaiah married his best friend and the love of his life Enid Beatrice Plummer on December 6th, 1958. They both settled in Queens, New York. Isaiah helped raised their only son, Barry, with much love, patience, discipline, and humility. Isaiah and Enid Irving were married for 62 years. Isaiah was a God-Fearing man who taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, served as Chaplin, elder, and deacon for his church. He was always witnessing and trying to bring others to Christ by volunteering with his church outreach ministries and his own literature evangelism program. Isaiah Irving (Uncle Ike) is survived by his wife, Enid Irving, their son, Barry, three grandchildren Kiana, Darrell, and Tasha. Eight (8) siblings, several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He is preceded in death by five (5) of his siblings. May he rest in peace.
