On the morning of August 20, 2021, Bradford Stewart Boone of Brooklyn, New York passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare where he had been living in recent years under the care of dedicated health professionals. Known as Stewart by family and friends alike, he had survived Covid-19 in 2020 as well as a stroke the previous year, and this Friday morning his kind heart needed a final rest.
The ninth of ten children of Robert Boone and Ollie Lang, Stewart was born on April 4, 1934 in Cofield, North Carolina. He and his wife Mary had two sons, Bradford, who like his mother predeceased Stewart, and Ronald, also of Brooklyn.
A U.S. Army veteran, Stewart was a very hard worker, having retired after full careers with both the Postal Service and the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority. He was a gentle and affable friend and relative, and he regularly attended Boone family reunions dating back to the early 1970s. He loved his family and always had a kind word, a funny joke or a warm smile to share.
Predeceasing him are eight of his brothers and sisters, Selma Lima, Ruby Hill, Emma King, Lucy Boone, Clinton, Anne Lambert, Leroy and Edward. He is survived by his eldest brother, Walter, his aunt Mae Bell, as well as by literally dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives who affectionately called him Uncle Stewart. He will be missed and loved by all.
Condolences may be sent to the David Williams Funeral Service at 108-20 Sutphin Boulevard, Jamaica, New York 11435, 718-291-3823, 800-846-9307, www.davidwilliams-funeralservice.com. A private memorial and burial will be arranged.
