Special Info |
B renda Lavern Ward, born June 23, 1961, was educated in Queens NY public schools where she was driven by a strong desire to accomplish meaningful goals. She excelled in mathemat-ics. After graduating from August Martin High School, she took a job at Carver Bank as a Teller. She later joined the US Army.
Brenda loved spending valuable time with family. She constantly kept friends and family laughing at the many jokes she had to share. We found it intriguing how well she could impersonate so many people, and she did it so well. She was always full of joy and laughter.
Brenda was gifted in many areas. She was a perfectionist in cooking. She measured all of her ingredients to the “T” and made sure the taste and presentation was always “on point”. Macaroni sal-ad was her signature dish, it was simply the best. She had a passion for music and was often asked to DJ at block parties where her friends gave her the name “Chilly B”. Brenda was also very competitive on the handball court and loved play-ing the card game 500.
Brenda believed in the Lord, Jesus Christ and studied the Bible diligently. She was an active
member of The Church of Gethsemane in Brooklyn, NY where she fellowshipped and served as the Ad-ministrative Assistant for many years.
Whether she was telling a joke, sharing a scripture or entertaining a crowd, Brenda had the gift of bringing joy to everyone around her.
She faced various social and medical challeng-es during her lifetime, but it was her strong faith in the Lord and the love from her family that sustained her all the way to the early morning of June 23, 2022. Now she has taken on her spiritual wings to rest peacefully.
To cherish her memories, Brenda leaves be-hind her parents: Thomas and Alice Jones; daughter: Chenique Ward; three grandchildren: Kaeden, Kai, and Khori Fields; two sisters: Yvonne and Gloria Ward; nephews, aunts, an uncle, and several cousins.
