Susie Emma Conklin Benson was born Dec 8th, 1950. Susie was born to the late Rosswell
Edward Conklin and Ruth Badger at Sydenham Hospital in Harlem,N.Y. Susie was the 5th of 12
children born in this union.
Susie attended Alva-T Stanford as well as Sawaneka High School in Floral Park, where she
obtained her High School Diploma in 1968. During her school years Susie received Medals and
Awards for her Athleticism.
Susie Fell in Love with Donald Edward Benson, better known as Pee-Wee. During Courtship
the couple had their One and Only child named Rosswell Edward Conklin 3rd. The couple later
married Feb 8th, 1971 in Columbia, South Carolina.
During the year of 1995, Susie decided to get her life together for her Son, Husband and Family.
As everyone knows there are a Few things Susie ain”t play with or about!!!!

Another of her sayings is YOU CANT MESS WITH ROSSWELL’S DAUGHTERS.
Susie began getting her life together by getting trained at New York State Department of Health
and Mental Hygiene, Cicatelli Associates, and The AIDS Institute. Her passion was advocacy by
giving back to others in the community. She volunteered at the Osborne Association as a
switchboard agent serving individuals and families affected by the criminal justice system.
Susie was a Peer Health Educator for Camba and Life Force serving women infected and
affected with HIV/AIDS by empowering and educating women and families. In 2015 Susie was
inducted into the 2020 Leading Women’s Society Sisterlove, Inc.in Atlanta Georgia. In 2016
Susie became a member of PWN ( Positive Women Network ) NYC Chapter and Marched in
Washington, DC for the Women’s March in 2017 fighting women's rights. Susie worked at
Partnership for the homeless in brooklyn New York until her health issues began to rise.
Although she had health issues she still attended conferences, summits, and advocacy in
Albany, NY speaking to elected officials on budget cuts to the underserved communities. During
her Rehabilitation Susie Met Niko Flowers, who became more than a friend. Niko became
family.
Roswell Edward Conklin the 3rd affectionately known as Scatch, blessed his mother with 3
Grandchildren
Cherokee Nyzhana Conklin, Chappelle Jamison- Conklin) and Jaya Elise Hendrix-Conklin.
Chappelle and Jaden Heath blessed his father with 4 Grandchildren and his Grandmother with
Great-Grandchildren Chappelle Isiah Conklin jr (Deceased) Kynleigh Gabrielle Heath Conklin,
Kayden Lee-Michelle Heath Conklin and Khari Capri Conklin
Susie is Preceeded in death by: Rosswell Edward Conklin Sr., Ruth Badger Conklin, Roswell
Edward Conklin Jr., Willian (Bill) Conklin, Priscilla Louise Conklin Austin, Elwin Conklin, Linda
Conklin Murray,and Everett Edward Conklin.
Susie Emma Conklin Benson leaves to mourn: Donald Edward Benson, Rosswell Edward
Conklin 3rd,Margaret Ann Conklin LaBosttrie (The Matriarch) of the Family, Hannibal Conklin,
Cheryl Denise Conklin McKenzie, Shirley Jewel Conklin Burroughs, and James Lee Conklin.
Her Grandchildren, Great Grands And a host of Nieces in particular Ruth Austin who called her
(Ma) Nephews Cousins and friends.
