Special Info |
Mrs. Gloria Johnson-Moncrieffe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 4th, 2022, at the age of 75.
She was born on February 1st, 1947, to her parents Samuel Johnson and Jestina Dixon-Marshall in Freetown, Glengoffe, St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies. Gloria was the second youngest of 13 siblings. and was greatly welcomed and doted on.
After leaving Glengoffe at 18 years old, she met and married her husband Rupert Moncrieffe, moving and settling down in the garden parish of St. Ann where they were happily blessed to have 6 sons. Knowing the loving and strong woman she was, Gloria took on motherhood with pride and confidence, “for me, looking back or thinking of having one child, scares me a lot, knowing what she had to go through with 6 very overactive boys, back then, I might have given one or two away if anyone asked” (LOL).
When her late sister, Josephine Thompson gave her the opportunity to get a taste of the American dream and to pursue a better life for her family, she couldn’t say no, being the selfless person, we all came to know. After, saying bye to her family, with Jamaica in her rear-view mirror, snow, and heat waves in front of her, she bravely packed up and moved to Queens, New York. Throughout the years she was blessed with a career working as a Caregiver, giving her all, while doing what she loved, caring for the elderly. Her patients loved her as well! Not long after, she became a homeowner and made it a haven for her family. Grandma consistently motivated herself by working hard to make a way for her family, even going above and beyond as to adopt her grandson Japhet Moncrieffe, making sure not to leave no one behind.
Mrs. Gloria, Grandma, may I say freely, left behind to mourn, her husband of 60 years Rupert Moncrieffe, 5 loving sons Richard Moncrieffe, Everard Moncrieffe, Stephen Moncrieffe, Christopher Moncrieffe and Ricardo Moncrieffe, 2 surviving sisters Mary Marshall-Anglin and Adeline Marshall, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, fathered by her eldest grandson, Kamer Richard Moncrieffe Jr., not forgetting the host of beautiful Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Last, but not least, she will pleasantly be joining her second eldest son Stewart Moncrieffe for angel duties.
She will be greatly missed by her entire immediate family and friends; her memories will live on forever within us, and stories to our unborn kids.
The family of Gloria Emily Moncrieffe would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their love, prayers, condolences, and words of comfort in our time of mourning.
