Special Info  Melba Tavella Ramona Freeman (the fifth and youngest child) was born on August 7th, 1985 to Vibert and Jacqueline Freeman, in Georgetown, Guyana. Along with the rest of the family, Melba migrated to the United States of America in May of 1987. In her early years, she attended Ebenezer Elementary School in Brooklyn NY. Then unto PS104 and IS 53 both in Far Rockaway, Queens. Melba also attended Beach Channel High School in Rockaway Park, Queens, New York. After graduating high school, she attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College and acquired an associate degree in social work. She interned at Federation Employment and Guidance Services, FEGS, a nonprofit in Health and Human services in Manhattan NY. She worked as an educator for Right at School in Valley Stream until her illness. Quiet yet, Melba was ever loving and of a peaceable disposition. Simply put, she was a wonderful person to have and be around. Always pleasant, she never complained even though she was ill, she remained steadfastly calm, an inner strength that can be attributed to God’s grace. As a daughter, Melba was loving and selfless, as a sister, she was warm and compassionate, as an aunt, she was tenderhearted and selfless. She was always surrounded by children and over the years whether it was children at her job, her own, young nieces, nephews, and cousins, she unreservedly and wholeheartedly cared for all. Further, she unreservedly made herself available to assist at Elmont Temple SDA, in countless ways, particularly in the hospitality department. On the evening of April 10th, 2023, Melba quietly passed away in Manhattan Hospital. She is survived by her mother Jacqueline Freeman, father Vibert Freeman, brothers, Michael Freeman and Mervin Freeman, her sisters Melissa Freeman and Ritchell Freeman, her many loving nieces:Samantha, Mia, Melanie, Naomi, & Imani:nephews, Mervin, Jr. , Mason, & Matthew: Uncles, Kenton, Patrick, Stanley, Shelton, Bruce & Ronald Browne & Edwin Freeman: Aunts, Meshelle, Carol,& Nicolettte: Great Uncles, Churchill, Osbert & Wilbert Graham: Immediate Cousins, Fiona & Ameila, Marsha, Diana, & Katherine, Ayesha & Chris-L, Rebecca, Shelly Ann, Shenella, & Colina; Keron & Giwan & Okio, Andrew Jr. & Kyle, Angelique, Camille, Briana & John: Extended Cousins:The Lucas & Mayers”, The Wickhams’, The Grahams”, The Escourses’, The Roberts’, The Broomes’,The Scotts’, The Richards’, The Johnsons’, The Wills’, The Sams’, The Josephs, the Hoffmans, & TheFreemans’, Countless extended family members, friends & well-wishers.
