Special Info  Maldon is a district nestled in the hills of South Eastern St. James in Jamaica. It sits on a hill with cool running water, lush vegetation and hard-working farmers. There on September 21, 1955 a baby girl was born to Deacon Lester and Deaconess Vera Foster, both deceased. They named her Rachel Rebecca Foster. Rachel or RACHIE as most of us call her grew up with love being the last of 12 children. She was predeceased by (write the names of her siblings who have gone on before her if you know them). She was loved and adored by all the neighbors and family members for her vibrant, loud, and charismatic personality. Her life was grounded in the beautiful edifice called Maldon Baptist church. Rachel participated in Sunday school every week and also in the yearly Sunday school anniversary. At the tender age of eight, under the leadership of the Late Rev Dr. Cyril Arthur Morgan, Rachel walked pass the pews in the church, took the preacher's hand, and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Rachel was first educated at the Maldon Primary School. In 1969 she graced the grounds of the Maldon Secondary school; which is now proudly renamed Maldon High school. At this institution she achieved 5 subjects in the Jamaica school certificate. Rachel’s performance in school was advance for her age/class and she progressed faster than her peers. After she graduated from Maldon, she started her own babysitting and housekeeping service for some of the teachers who resided in the area. She was the first entrepreneur amongst the family. This was when her culinary skills became perfected. She did all that, to help her family, and herself. Rachel wanted more and kept visiting her siblings in the city of Kingston where she worshiped at The East Queen Street Baptist Church. She made long lasting friendships with many others, some of which continued to this day in New York. In 1978 Rachel set her sights abroad and migrated to Canada. Her main focus was to help her parents live a more comfortable life. After a while she had to returned to Jamaica. Upon her return, Rachel observed that people had changed, life had changed, but Rachel remained her authentic self. Shortly after returning home, she gave birth to her first child, her son, her pride and joy, Delroy Smith. She would boast about how handsome her son was and she could often be heard saying, “Can you believe me Rachel has such a handsome son?” In the 80s Rachel migrated to the US. She worked tirelessly with the help of God to establish herself from the ground up. As a result of her work and determination, she was able to get her family members to the US. In 1998 her second child was born. She named her Ashely Henry. Once again, she had another child to boast about and devote all her love and attention to. Rachel got trained as a professional Certified Nursing Assistant. In 1999 she entered the Forest View Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility, working tirelessly for 24 years, giving first class care to residents, insomuch that family members would request her service privately to make sure their loved ones were safe and comfortable. Rachel forged on in life. She entertained, loved, helped, cared for others, and always gave a helping hand. Never did she turn anyone away. Every year her house was the venue of a buzzing festive Christmas party. Her home hosted her birthday parties, family birthday parties and surprise birthday parties of her close friends. Whenever Rachel was excited, she brought out the phrases like, “Kiss mi neck!” or “HOLY COLUMBUO”. She always spoke openly of her love for her family, and the love and respect she had for her parents and how thankful she was for the way they raised her. On Sunday February 23, 2014 Sister Rachel Foster joined the Majority Baptist Church, transferring her membership from the Maldon Baptist church, Jamaica West Indies. She worshiped under the leadership of Rev. Darryl Frazier. She was faithful to the Caribbean African International Ministry. Every time Rachel visited Jamaica, she would make it a priority to visit the sick and shut-in seniors who helped to mold her life. She made contributions to their everyday living such as medications, food, or a bill that needed to be paid. Stubborn yes, she was. When you double down on her, you would have heard the words, “Whatever, whatever”, but in the next breath you would have also heard “hmmm ,hmm wah u seh now talk to me”. She had not a hateful bone in her body. She was a lover, not a fighter. Hugs and kisses were her love language. Joining the MALDON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION { MHAA } was the latest project that brought her so much joy and fulfillment. On July 4, 2023 the lives of all her families, friends and her community at large came to a halt as our sister and beloved friend took her last breath. Sadly, we have to let her go. Rachel Foster leaves behind to mourn; her son Delroy, his wife Sanni and their 3 beautiful children/her grandkids Malique, Arianna and Josiah; her daughter Ashley Henry; Fiancé Glen Scott; Brothers Horatio, Benjamin, and Cerbert; Sisters Lyn, Doris, Victoria, Casselda & Louise {all Fosters}; 35 nieces and nephews and their children; countless relatives, and a multitude of friends from all races and cultures. To the WRECKLESS CREW; you have lost a mother among mothers, please stay close to your brother Delroy. WE WHO REMAIN AWAIT THE SOUND OF THE TRUMPET, WHEN WE SHALL BE JUDGED ONLY BY THE CREATOR. MAY HER SOUL ENTER INTO HIS REST. AMEN.
