Special Info  In 1943, the youngest daughter of Willie and Julia Lee, Frances Julia, was born on February 28th in the Barnwell County of Blackville, South Carolina. In 1944, in an effort to restart their lives after tragedy, the Lee family relocated to New York City after their Blackville, South Carolina home burned down At an early age, Frances became a baptized member of the Brooklyn, NY-based Morning Dew Baptist Church. Frances enjoyed singing in the Young Peoples Choir, as well as in a group of young girls who performed at various churches. Frances also participated in the churches' Willing Workers Young Peoples Group. Coming from a musical family, naturally Frances loved music. Her favorite performers were The Isley Brothers, Phylis Hyman, The O’ Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, The Whispers and The Stylistics. Growing up, her family's home was always filled with all genres of music. On Friday evenings, the family would gather with close friends to sing a variety of songs. However, Sundays belonged to the Lord and the family only listened to Gospel music. Frances loved to be around people. Educated within the NYC Public School system, Frances attended elementary school P.S. 25, M.S. 57 and Eli Whitney High School. Later in life, Frances worked for Abraham & Straus which unfortunately, the workload put a strain on her health. After a long courtship, Frances married Frank A. Humphrey at her beloved Morning Dew Baptist Church. The couple welcomed their daughter, Renee Francine in 1963. Frances was a loving thoughtful, giving and caring person who enjoyed her life with great pleasure and laughter. Frances also showed her love by cooking fine meals for families and friends. Among their favorites were her Peas and Rice with Beef Stew, homemade Sweet Potato Pie and delicious Stuffing. Frances helped in caring for her ailing mother during her later years of life. From birth through adulthood, Frances helped in raising her Grandson, Tyriek Anthony Murphy and even cared for his first born, Tychelle, from 4 months old. Frances and Tychelle shared the same birthday. Frances was the first to witness Tychelle taking her first steps. During NY Summers, Frances enjoyed family outings like Subway rides to Coney Island with Renee and her two Great Grandchildren, both are High Honor Roll Scholars. Tychelle is an avid artist & human rights advocate & Tyler is a Gamer & an aspiring NFL Player. Preceding Frances in death, Parents Willie and Julia Lee, Brothers Willie Lee Jr. and Jacob Lee, and Sister Innabelle LeeLanclos Frances kept fighting illness @ Brooklyn's Coney Island Hospital, until The Good Lord called her home @ 4:31 PM on Saturday July 8th, 2023.
