Special Info |
On Sunday, October 20,1968 Renee Monique Steward was born to Lula Mae and Jamie Jason Steward.
Renee was raised in South Ozone Park, New York and attended school there.
She graduated from August Martin High School in 1987.
The apple of her Grandmothers’ eyes, being the first Grandchild for both Edwillie Williams and Janie Steward, Nae Nae, as she was affectionately called, was doted on.
The loss of her father at 2 years old left a void in her life. Although she didn’t complain, she was always looking for a fathers’ love.
As a young child Nae Nae delighted in ballet and tap dancing, she would twirl and dance all over the house in her tutu, showing off her silver tooth smile.
Renee spent a lot of time in Brooklyn with her Godsisters, Angela and Theresa Melton and there she developed a passion for reading. They were like her big sisters and would often seek them out for advice and guidance.
Renee enjoyed traveling as a teen and you just never knew where she and her BMW would pop up next; from New York to California, she’d go.
Renee never gave up! At times she struggled, but she overcame her adversities and would fight another day.
Nae Nae was a storyteller, talking in a quiet voice, she'd usually begin with "Do you remember when" and when you told that you didn't, she'd say "Yes you do, know how i know?, because I was there. By the time she finished you'd know what she was talking about.
She had a "steel trap mind", never forgetting a thing.
On June 7th, 2020, at the height of the Covid Pandemic, Nae Nae fell ill. From this she never awoke. She lived in silence, with her thoughts, at Silvercrest Nursing Home in Queens, New York. During that time Renees’ soul was being healed from all the pain, grief, and disappointments that she’d suffered in life, God was working on her, making her whole, giving her the peace that only He can deliver.
On Friday August 18th, 2023, her work was done on earth. At that time God plucked his flower to come home.
Renee was preceded in death by her parents Lula and Jamie Steward, her grandparents Janie and Mahlon Steward and Edwille Williams and John Williams Sr.
Renee leaves to cherish her memory, children Ricky Scott Jr, Lamont, Desiree, Barshea, and Jason Steward. Siblings Richard Steward, William Steward and Monique Simmons. Grandchildren Kayden, Kylie, Amaria, Ricky and Charlotte, Godparents Danny and Gwen Capers, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Godsisters and Godbrother.
Her memories will live on through all the lives she touched. We’ll all laugh as we remember the antics of Nae Nae, her contagious laugh and big bright smile.
