Winston Peter "Caperman" Khan, 88, of Rosedale, Queens NY and Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on October 10, 2023. He was born on June 20, 1935, in San Fernando, Trinidad. Winston, affectionately known as “Caperman” lived his life to the fullest, embodying strength, generosity and straightforwardness. He had a big heart and consistently showed up for those he loved.
Winston attended St. Benedict’s High School in San Fernando, Trinidad. After leaving high school, he began his career as a Payroll Clerk and Researcher for the Water and Sewage Authority (WASA) in Trinidad, where he dedicated 20 years of his life. Upon his migration to New York, he worked at Abraham and Strauss and Macy's as a Security Manager, retiring after 25 years of service. His final occupation was as Security and Fire Director at the Howard Johnson Hotel chain.
Winston found solace in his faith as an Episcopalian. He worshipped at the St. Paul's Anglican Church where he served as an Acolyte. He also attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Rosedale, Queens where he was a member for over thirty years.
Winston became a Mechanics Lodge member in Trinidad. Upon his transition to New York, he became a member of the Independent United Order of Mechanics Western Hemisphere Lodge, where he faithfully attended meetings weekly. Winston embraced his time spent with his Lodge family as a dedicated member.
In his leisure time Winston enjoyed playing pool, dominos and cards. He had a passion for watching sports and old Western movies. He also enjoyed playing soccer and coaching Netball in Skinners Park, San Fernando.
Winston is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Khan, his daughter Karen and son-in-law Emerson, his son Michael and daughter-in-law Sonji and daughter Kathleen. He was a proud grandfather to Jason and Fiancé Brielle, Brandon and Gayri and a great-grandfather to Kaliko. Winston is also survived by his sisters Lystra and Claudia as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a plethora of friends. He was preceded in death by his father Sahidwan Khan, his mother Lenora Nicholas, his brothers Sonny, Linton, Clyde, Carlin and his sister Thora.
Winston will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
