Obituary
Beverly Harris Mathis was born on July 17, 1957 in Raleigh, NC to the late Wilbert G. Harris and the late Evelyn Smith Mathis. She departed this life on October 26, 2023 at Brookdale Hospital Brooklyn, NY. Beverly attended the public schools of New York City and Canarsie High School in Queens, NY. Following high school, she graduated from Job Corp. She attended The House of Prayer in Queens, NY along with her mother. Beverly was a fun loving person who was a loyal individual. She did not mind speaking her mind, and she always loved to laugh and have a good time.
She was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Guffrie Harris, Robert Harris, Wilhelmenia Sanders, Kathleen Carter, Patricia Hearell, Evins Harris, Johnnie Harris and Ronnie Harris. Her grandson, Tyler Dudley and a loving partner, Cecil Smith preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Monique Dudley of Queens, NY, three sons, Rodney Dudley of Brooklyn, NY, Melvin (Shanique) Dudley of Queens, NY and Jamel (Sherita) Dudley of Chicago, Il, four sister, Aisha Mathis, Rashida Mathis, Lisa Mathis and Louisa Mathis all of Brooklyn, NY, one brother Rev. Wilbert J. (Ava) Harris of Titusville, FL and one sister-in-law, Willa Harris of Bronx, NY. Beverly grew up with a nephew, Jonathan Mathis, who was like a brother. She also has 7 grandchildren along with a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
