JUSTINE FIELDS
Mrs. Justine Robinson Fields was the first of thirteen children born to Elijah Robinson, Jr., and Margaret Snipe Robinson, on April 22, 1928, on Johns Island, South Carolina.
Justine was educated in the Charleston County public school system. Jobs were difficult to find during that time, but Justine did domestic work until she relocated to New York with family.
It was in New York, she met and married Freddie Fields Sr. Justine worked at Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan for 37 years until she retired. She received many awards and appreciations for her work there.
Justine joined the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans on April 26, 1964. She became an Usher and was a member of the Deborah Circle and the Share Program and was recognized for her hard work and more importantly, she became a Deacon on February 4, 1998. Justine remained a faithful member of the church until her health declined. She loved the church, friends, and family but mostly she loved God. She is a child of God.
Justine departed this life on Wednesday afternoon, November 15, 2023, at Northwell Hospital in Manhasset.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Fields, Sr.; her parents, Elijah, and Margaret Robinson; sisters, Elizabeth and Thelma Robinson, Emily Robinson Grant and brother, Esau Robinson, Sr.
Justine leaves to cherish her memory, her children: two daughters, Elsie Robinson Randolph, of Corona, New York, and Sarah Robinson Taylor, of Seattle, Washington and son, Freddie Fields, Jr., of St. Albans, New York; her sisters: Laura Robinson of Johns Island, South Carolina, and Barbara Gadsden, of Colombia, South Carolina, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
