The funeral for the late Esmie Rebecca Clarke will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Praise Tabernacle Church located at 108-11 Sutphin Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11435. The viewing will be held from 8am-9am followed by the funeral service at 9am. She will be laid to rest in Lynbrook, NY, USA. Please give your condolences to the Clarke family.

Esmie Rebecca Clarke was born in Jamaica to Lillian and Henry Elliott and lived a life defined by love, sacrifice, and quiet strength. From an early age, she showed a heart for others, sharing what little she had and caring deeply for her community. A hardworking mother first and always, she worked as a cook at the Treasure Beach Hotel and Hikaru Guest House before courageously migrating to the United States in 1974 to create better opportunities for her children.
Though she eventually made New York her abode, Jamaica always remained the home in her heart. Known for her generosity, she never returned home empty-handed. She loved to dance, cook, and always had a smile.
She was elegant and humble, always stylish, always dignified, always warm. She made people feel safe and loved. Her stories, laughter, and love continue to shape generations.
Esmie Rebecca Clarke was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Clarke, and five of her children, three in their infancy, Keron, Michael and Henry, and more recently, Lionel Clarke (spouse: Jenny Clarke) and Nesta Hill.
She is survived by nine of her children and one beloved stepson. Children: Margaret Ebanks, Ukie Hill (Spouse: Ida Hill), Noxie Swaby (spouse: Sharon Swaby), Jean Ebanks, Veronica Ebanks (spouse: Ronie Ebanks), Cani Clarke, Selwyn Clarke, Devon Clarke, Lennox Clarke (spouse: Sharon Clarke), Jerbert Clarke (stepson) (spouse: Doreen Clarke).
37 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, along with 5 honorary grandchildren, 4 honorary great-grandchildren, and 3 honorary great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though she has gone to rest, she will never be just a memory. Her love lives on in all who carry her name, her lessons, and her heart forward.
