Special Info
|
Jim "Aubrey" Baptiste was born on September 26th, 1957, to Rupert and Majorie Baptiste of Tempe St. George. He was the 4th child of 9 Children.
He was the brother of Janice, Dawne, Patrick, Richard, and Raymond, residing in the USA and Glen residing in Grenada. He was the father of Omarlie, Nathaniel, Rihana, Britnie, stepfather of Sammisha and Ellisha, step grandfather of Sammiyah.
As a young boy growing up in the community of Tempe, given his incredible passion for football and cricket, we all truly believed he was destined to become Grenada's next great sportsman.
Or maybe the signature bakes maker for being an expertise on frying bakes. Nonetheless, he grew where he was planted.
His earlier school years was at the Palmer Primary School, Grenada. He later migrated to the USA in 1975 and attended Erasmus High School, where he got his diploma and attended the New York City Technical College, where he acquired an associate degree in Drafting and Building Technology.
During his time in the United States, he worked at JC Penny and later worked with a well-known construction company in Manhattan.
After his achievements in the USA, Jim returned to his homeland Grenada in 1996 where he applied his building skills and later became the entrepreneur of one of Grenada's top construction companies, Baptiste Construction Management.
Jim, Jimmy, Boss, Comrade, BB or Jimbo as many persons would have referred to him, is to know a man with a vision. A man with a big heart, a man that stood behind every word he spoke. He was a man of integrity and uprightness. Jim had a love and passion for drawing and designing. His work will stand as a testimony to his creative ability. His legacy will continue to live on in the trademark of high quality. He never settled for 'good enough.' In everything he did, he always aimed for the absolute highest standards. He didn't mix matters and ensured every "T" was crossed and every "I" dotted. He took pride in everything he did, from making that Omelet on a Saturday morning to drawing, designing and completing every building he constructed with the most modern look. He always created his own look, his own style, he imagined what he wanted, placed it on paper and brought that drawing alive. Nothing he created was ever a mere replica. Even when his works bore a resemblance to one another, each one stood alone as completely unique.
One of his favorite quote was "where is your faith?" Jim's faith was bigger than a mustard seed. He had a great mind that believed beyond limits. And most of all, Jim trusted in Almighty God. Because of his love for God and desiring the things of God, Jim spent a lot of his private time understanding the word of God and what he didn't understood he made it his duty to get clarity from the right Spiritual Leaders.
While building his footprints in Grenada and aligning his belief with the word of God, Jim wasn't satisfied with the bare minimum of just living, he wanted a closer walk with the Lord and decided to take the plunge on Saturday 30th July 2016 in the hands of Pastor Ian Crowe. "Oh yes! Indeed, Jim Baptiste was a born-again believer."
Jim was a great man, one with true vision not because he wore glasses. He had already built a successful business, but his life truly came into focus that day while visiting De La Grenade Industries. One glance at Anisa Elcock, and he knew instantly that she was the One. As time went by wedding bells was ringing, and "Jimbo" or "BB" as his lovely wife called him, was living his best life.
A man of few words but when he spoke everyone listened. He would never be the loudest in a room, but his presence would be one of the strongest. One would say a plaster for every sore and always a smart answer to every question.
A faithful husband, a great father, a loving brother, a true friend and most of all a servant of God defined our beloved "JIM."
The love for family was one of his greatest treasures, always showing up and being a constant presence in their lives. He was an anchor to his wife and all his children, even to his stepchildren and grand stepchild, a true father figure in its fullest form. He gave encouragement and support to everyone he met along life's path, in every possible way even when he needed support the most.
After a well soaked sea bath on September 23, 2020, Jim fell ill, a sudden shock greeted by all.
Then came along the journey of life changes from recovery to relapse. But God, as Jim would say, the faith of a man who trusted in the Lord.
As time passed when his condition required more attention, we didn't hesitate, we made the decisions to continue medical treatment overseas. Supported by his phenomenal wife and the love of his family, his relocation to the USA in January 2021 was the start of a new chapter. Adjusting back to life in America was indeed a challenge, but as a family we persevered together in Love, Unity and Strength.
The last few months before Jim met his demise, were both joyous and sadness. Some days he will be so humorous that he will bring light to your entire day. Other days his mood was sad and depressing, but what stood out the most was the strength of a mindset that said, "I will get better soon." Despite everything he was enduring, Jim fought a good fight.
As we say goodbye today, may we remember the life Jim lived, the love he shared, and the memories that remain. May those memories bring peace and comfort in the days ahead.
What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us."
From his Wife: "Thank you for the life we built, the humor we shared and the unconditional love you gave me. I will love you for the rest of my life. Rest peacefully."
From your Children: "Thank you for your wisdom, support and being the best dad we could have ever asked for. We will remember you every day of our lives. We love you."
From your Families & Loved Ones: "Thank you for the time we had with you, though our hearts are hurting, we will love you forever.
Let us honor Jim by living with the same kindness, patience and unwavering love he showed to every person that walked his path. Forever in our hearts, a life well lived, a legacy of love. COMRADE "JIM BAPTISTE." THANK YOU.
