Special Info |
Franklyn Carlos Edwards was born to Irvine M. Edwards and Ruth C. Edwards (nee Brown) in Curacao, The Netherlands Antilles. After emigrating to St.Vincent and the Grenadines as a young child with his parents and siblings, his early education was developed at the Belair government school. He followed by attending Emmanuel High School. Franklyn’s main hobbies included cycling and drumming, which encouraged him to join two groups. He was active in the Arnos Vale cycling club. He became an integral member of D.R.A.G.S, a prestigious drum circle that performed in various towns throughout the island. They emphasized African percussive rhythms and strong vocals. The members frequently wrote and recited poetry. The group allowed them to feel connected to their heritage as people of the diaspora.
He worked as a plumber in St.Vincent before migrating to The United States. He later returned to St.Vincent, where he married Margaret Edwards (nee Malcolm) on July 7th,1984. This union produced four children. Carlos Marlon, Javier, Chaniqua, and Chinylue. The dearly departed is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, numerous relatives, and friends. Gone but will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
