Special Info  Bobby was educated in the New York City school system. He began working as a livery driver (He would often regale us with his story about how he once had Ron Isley as a fare and got a lousy 5 cent tip.) then he became a typist at Mount Sinai Hospital. In the mid 1960’s, Bobby was drafted during the Vietnam War where served first in the US Army then the US Air Force. He was a proud soldier. Once he completed his tour of duty, Bobby served in the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant, with the 369th Infantry Regiment aka The Harlem Hellfighters. He loved going on monthly maneuvers and looked forward to annual training every summer. Bobby proudly marched with the 369th every Veteran’s Day with his family along route waiting for a chance to see him in the procession. On September 14, 1968, Bobby married his soul mate Barbara Jean Thomas. From that union came four children, Eugena Louise, Sabrina Denise, Cynthia Jean and Robert Lewis Jr. In 1991, tragedy struck and his daughter Sabrina departed this life, blessing the family with her only new born son Brian Dennis, and just like that Bobby gained another son. Bobby became a New York City Transit bus operator in 1973 and moved his family from the Bronx to Queens Village in 1974. For many years, Bobby lived with his family on a tree lined street, enjoying family BBQ’s, swimming in the pool, taking family trips to six flags, annual vacations and cruises, and holiday festivities. In 1998, Bobby retired from the transit authority, giving him the freedom to enjoy his favorite hobbies like gardening, playing pool, bowling, more family vacations, and visiting every casino along the eastern coast. Bobby spent quiet times at home creating in coloring books, listening to music, watching YouTube videos of marching bands and army movies. Bobby and Barbara moved the family to Fredericksburg, VA in 2016, bringing their youngest daughter, Cynthia and her children for a new beginning. Bobby settled into this new place visiting the many family members that moved to the state before him. He still made the occasional trip to the casinos, but enjoyed game night while visiting he beloved Sister Vivian in Richmond, or sharing laughs with his youngest granddaughter Cabrina, whom he called “Bubble Face”. Bobby departed this life on January 10, 2022, peacefully at home. He ascends to watch over his beloved wife, Barbara; his children Eugena, Cynthia, Robert Jr., Brian, and Ingrid; five grandchildren; Victoria, Charles, Blake, Cameron, and Cabrina; two great-granddaughters Brianna and Jessica; one sister Vivian; two brothers-in-law Richard and Arnold; four sisters-in-law Janice, Geneva, Barbara, and Lorna; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a
