Special Info  Melvina Elsada Clemmings-Turner affectionately called “G” was born on February 22, 1945, to Gwendolyn Johnson and Herbert Clemmings in Brown’s Hall’s, Wayne Pass District, St. Catherine, Jamaica, W.I. She had three brothers Lambert Clemmings of New York, Leonard March, and Lambert Clemmings both of whom predeceased her. “G” attended Brown’s Hall All Age School and after leaving school, she learned dress making. She later moved to Kingston, where she lived for a while with an aunt, and later moved to Seven Miles Bull Bay (Shooters Hill) in Jamaica. Melvina married Ruben Turner in December of 2007 from this union produced her youngest son Ryan aka Leonard (USA). She also had four other children - Delrose aka Bibby (Jamaica), Sylvia aka Judith (USA), Sophia aka Maxine (deceased) and Otis aka Wayne (England). She worked at several jobs to support her family and spent over 25 years working at the Norman Manley International Airport. She migrated to the USA in August 1993. “G” was a strong woman who worked hard to provide for her family, always aiming to ensure they got a better life than she had. She resided in Queens, New York where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide for over 9 years. Illness brought an end to that career. A devout Christian, Melvina was a member of the Trinity Church of God in Queens, New York. She loved attending church and would enjoy getting dressed from head to toe to attend worship services. However, her illness stopped her from attending church regularly and physically, but she loved praising God and you would her joyfully singing and clapping. Our beloved Melvina passed from this life on Thursday February 10th, 2022, after a prolonged illness. She leaves to mourn her passing husband Ruben, children, Delrose, Sylvia, Otis, and Ryan. Her brother Lambert, daughters-in-law Zola and Simone, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. As we celebrate the life of Melvina Elsada Clemmings-Turner, may her soul rest in peace and her memory remain forever in our hearts. We thank everyone for sharing this time with us.
