Donna Kay Turner was born on July 4 1958 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Far Rockaway, Queens to William James Turner and Jean Fleming Turner. She gained her wings on April 24, 2022 at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital.
Donna received her education through the New York City public school system and graduated from Flushing High School in 1976. Donna accepted Christ at an early age and attended Proverb Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn NY under the spiritual guidance of Elder Benjamin Wright. She later moved on to Bethany Baptist Church in Queens, NY under the leadership of Rev. Craig Scott Brown. She faithfully served and sang on the Gospel Chorus and directed the children Praise Dancers. Without a doubt it was known that Donna loved the Lord and served him whole heartedly and praised him until her health began to fail.
Donna worked with the City of New York at HPD for over 25 years. Donna was a very jolly person who loved to laugh and joke with her coworkers, family and friends. Donna “LOVED” children and although she never had any of her own she would take her coworker’s kids, neighbors and family on different outings such as to the Movies, Bowling and to Amusement Parks. Donna raised her two nieces, BruShonna and Beverle both of which she loved dearly as her own. Donna became a “Dance Mom” taking Beverle back and forth to E.S.O.T.A dance studio every weekend. Donna loved her family and loved to cook, her favorite was “Pork Chops” as she would smack her lips and she made a “mean lasagna”.
Donna was preceded in death by her father, William James Turner, followed by her nephew, Anthony A. Teil and then her baby brother, Duane Bailey Turner.
Donna Kay Turner is survived by: her mother.. Jean Fleming Turner, one sister.. Andrena Turner Ingram, two brothers.. Eric Johnson and Anthony Teil Sr. Three sisters in law..Rhonda Ulmer-Johnson, Catherine Teil and Karen Turner. Two aunts.. Alma Fleming and Aunt/Godmother Patricia Ann Fleming , six nieces..BruShonna Law, Beverle Law, Teona Smith (Adrian), Tia Sykes, Giana Sykes, and Imani Ulmer. Four nephews… Brezlon Ingram, Devon Turner, Eric Sykes and Tyler Sykes. One grand nephew Eric III, three grand nieces, Juliet, E’Lainna, and Ava Rose. Her best friend Charlene Best, close girlfriends Joy Palmer, Penny Gardner and Evelyn Nathaniel. One godson Malachi Erves. A host of cousins, friends, coworkers and church family.
