He worked as a carpenter until he was given the opportunity to relocate to Canada at the age of 40 in search of a better life. It wasn’t long after being in Canada that another opportunity presented itself for him to move to the US where he settled. Gartshore went on to college and after completion, he landed his dream job at the New York City Housing Authority where he worked as a building inspector for many years until his retirement. Bee had a love for money which led him to buying and selling clothes and shoes. He always had a barrel filled with things that he had to show off for sale. He also had a love for cooking. There was never a Sunday that you couldn’t get your nice Sunday dinner of rice and peas and Oxtail or steak. These were his favorite Sunday afternoon meals. He took pride in looking good and you could never see him without a nice head of black hair. It wasn’t until he was 93 that he decided to embrace his white crown. Bee leaves behind dear friend Amy Moore, Sister Hyacinth and brother Gladstone. Daughters Donna, Joan and Mearlene. Son Fedrick, 35 grand, 54 great and 8 great great grandchildren.
