Special Info  Elsa Christine Nelson was born in the village of Diego Martin in Trinidad and Tobago to the late Ernest “Poodie” Jacob and May “Ma” Russell on September 26, 194¬3. Her brothers Oswald Jacob, Owen Jacob and Mervyn Jacob preceded her in death. Elsa entered eternal rest on June 26, 2022 Elsa was a primary school teacher in her home of Diego Martin and was loved by all of her students. Even decades later they recognized her and remembered her impact on their lives. Upon moving to Brooklyn, NY in 1971, she entered the banking profession and remained there for over thirty years. On June 26, 1971 she married Rudolph Michael Nelson. Their union produced two children: Joel and Keisha. Elsa was also a mother to her niece Wendy. As a member of St Vincent Ferrer Church in Brooklyn New York, Elsa provided years of faithful service. She was a youth Sunday School teacher and Eucharistic Minister. She served as member of both the St Vincent DePaul society and church Charismatic prayer group. It was common for her to arrive home hours after church services concluded on Sunday afternoons because she would visit the sick and elderly in the community, offering prayer and the best baked bread you ever tasted. As a testament to her love of people Elsa also served as past President of the Block Association for East 40th St where she lived for over forty years. She served her church and community with love, wisdom and forthrightness until her health would no longer allow it. Elsa leaves a proud and loving legacy to her family. Here to cherish fond memories are her husband Rudolph Michael Nelson; three children Wendy Nelson, Joel Nelson and Keisha Nelson Peralta (husband Eric Peralta); siblings Sylvan Russell, David Russell, Neil Russell, Clibert Russell, Marie Lynch and Victoria Russell; seven grandchildren Justus, Chavianni, Jaylen, Connor, Lawton, Jace and Naomi a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
