Special Info  Edna Elizabeth Nelson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 26, 2023 at the age of 87. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Edna, born on January 22, 1936, was one of twins, entering the world alongside her twin sister, Mildred. Her parents, Edna Elizabeth Christian-Stewart and James Daniel Stewart, named her after her mother, who served as a dedicated midwife and played a significant role in Edna's delivery, as well as her siblings' - Alice, Evelyn, Samuel, Harold, and Robert. Growing up, Edna pursued her education at P.S. 28 Elementary School, I.S. 35 Intermediate School, and Girls High H.S. Throughout her life, she demonstrated immense determination and ambition, which paved the way for her success in various endeavors. Edna married her childhood sweetheart, Robert, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey. From their union, four children were born - Robert, Anne, Lucille, and Jacqueline. Later in life, Edna found love again with Gregory, affectionately known as Junior, who became a beloved father figure to her children. From this union, three more children entered their lives - Lisa, Yvonne, and David, completing their family of seven. Edna's greatest joy in life came from being a mother, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. One of Edna's many talents was her passion for sewing. She would skillfully create dresses for her children and nieces, preparing them for church with her handcrafted garments. This act of love and attention to detail reflected her deep devotion to her faith and her family. In addition to her role as a mother, Edna was a dedicated postal worker who always went above and beyond. Known for doing the work of five people, she gained the admiration and respect of her colleagues. Her tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment made her a beloved member of her community. Edna was an active member of her church and embraced her role as a true matriarch, always making sure her family had a place to stay and seeking to support them in any way she could. In her leisure time, she found solace in reading, particularly biographies and murder mysteries. Crossword puzzles also brought her great joy, and she reveled in trivia from the comfort of her own home, tuning in to watch Jeopardy whenever she could. Edna leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her children: Robert, Anne, Lucille, Jacqueline, Lisa, Yvonne, and David. She was adored by her grandchildren: Lakeshia, McKeever (Rondel), Samuel, Patricia, Jerome, Christina, John, and Thomas. She also had twelve beloved great-grandchildren: Dwayne, Pashae, Xavier, Isaiah (Zy), Amber, Amanda, Cody, Samuel Jr., Justin, Desean Jr., Cayden, and Jackson. Each one held a special place in her heart and brought immeasurable joy to her life.
