Special Info  In Loving Memory of Barbara Patricia Martin Rooney Barbara Patricia Martin Rooney, born on November 6, 1940, peacefully journeyed to reunite with her parents, brother, and sons on New Year's Eve at 11:45 AM. She was the cherished daughter of Alexander and Charlsena Martin and the beloved sister of Alva Martin. Growing up in Jamaica, New York, Barbara's family of four, which included her brother Alva, created a home filled with love, delicious home-cooked meals, and warmth. Their residence became a hub for extended family and friends for many vears. Barbara attended NYC Public Schools, forming lasting friendships with Pauline (Walker) Bowe and Jacqueline (Gray) Avant and her cousin Portia Jones. During her time at Shimer Junior High School and John Adams High School. In 1960, Barbara married the love of her life, Herbert Rooney, and they were blessed with three children: Jeffrey Herbert Rooney, Cheryl Denise Rooney, and Michael Louis Rooney. Barbara's parents, brother, and sons preceded her in death. Barbara dedicated 42 years of her life to service, working at The Neighborhood Help Center, Triboro Hospital, and Queens Hospital Center. She later returned to her neighborhood to engage in steno work at the Multi-Service Center, where her daughter Cheryl also worked, creating cherished moments together. Barbara's retirement after four decades of dedicated service was marked by a well-attended gala, celebrating her commitment to her work. Her favorite song at the time was "The Big Payback." Barbara found immense joy in spending time with family and friends, relishing travel adventures, and taking pride in her grandchildren. Her recent illness unfolded unexpectedly, taking her from us with astonishing swiftness. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl and leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and a zest for life. She will be deeply missed by Nanny's 5 Grands: Gregory Bruno, Terrance Bruno, Dakari McMillian, Shantal Rooney, Michael Rooney, and Nanny's Great Grands, as well as numerous relatives and friends. In honoring Barbara's memory, let us carry forward her spirit of love, family, and joy for life. Remembering her famous saying Keep A Sweet Spirit !!!Sent from my iPhone
