Special Info  Michael (Mike) Omar Walker was born May 14, 1986 to Veronica Dawkins-Walker and Allan I. Walker (deceased) in Queens, NYC, NY. Growing up, he shared his childhood with his siblings Darren, and Damian Walker. Later in life, Mike had additional siblings in Shaun, and Aliyah. Michael received his early education at elementary and junior high schools in St Albans and Bayside in Queens. Michael’s early education culminated in high school at Brooklyn Technical HS in Brooklyn NYC. After attending high school, Michael enrolled in and attended the New York City College of Technology (aka City Tech) in Brooklyn, NYC. He had aspirations of learning graphic design and architecture at the college. Utilizing all of the technological skills that he acquired, Michael entered the workforce and worked diligently as a cable and networking technician at Dish Network, working in the fields all throughout NYC. Growing up, Mike easily adopted the concepts of diligence and dedication to work. Shortly after his tenure with Dish Network (the cable company), Michael worked as an independent contractor for Con Edison. Again, Mike honed his understanding of technology and engineering while working on power stations, power line, transistors, transformers, etc. Michael thrived in this environment. Michael quickly gained the respect of his colleagues. During Michael’s career, he met his long-term girlfriend with whom she had two beautiful and amazing children, Camden, and Cara Walker, born in June 2018 and September 2019, respectively. Michael was an extremely dedicated father. Michael challenged himself at work by keeping tireless hours to ensure that his children had the best start in life. While working diligently at Con Edison, Michael received an unfortunate and devastating cancer diagnosis in March of 2022. Michael has always been a private but caring, giving, and jovial man. He has a very calm and soothing demeanor, and his loved by everyone he encounters. He always stressed education, work ethic, decency/benevolence, and respect for anyone that he met. Michael was so focused on taking care of his children that he took a new job at Amtrak working on the railroads of the Northeast Corridor line. Michael, despite the pain and sickness from the cancer, went to work every day and did not waiver, continuing, to battle that horrible disease. Michael’s lost that battle on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Michael is survived by his mother, Veronica Dawkins-Walker; partner, Laquaiya Bryant; children: Camden and Cara; his niece: Chantelle Walker; his siblings: Darren, Damian, Shaun, Aliyah; cousins: Stesha Lewis, Kamillah Dawkins, Nicky Francis, Clinton (Junior), Patrice Lewis, Andrew, Stephen, Nathan, Zoe, Giselle Dawkins, Dunston Walker, Jade Attoh, Natalie Attoh, and others.
