Special Info  On this day, Saturday June 15th, 1935 a very special baby girl was born on the island of Trinidad and she grew into a spectacular, loving, kind and generous woman. Sheila Anastasia Brown known as “Tasie” was born to Newton Cross and Cicellia Fredrick Cross. She was the middle child of nine children. Sheila was a spiritual woman who often prayed for others no matter the time of day. She would say, “Just call me and we will pray it doesn’t matter what time it is!” This was not just words, she meant it. If someone called and she was sleep, she would get up and pray with them then return to her rest. Sheila graduated from Caratal Anglican high school in Trinidad. She took the nurses aid course in New York and received her certification. At the age of 19 she married Lionel Brown and together they raised their 7 children; Anmarie Brown, Maria Brown, Nevill Brown, Moses Brown, Francis Brown and Ian Brown. Sheila was a mother to many children, not just her own. She was a giver, she never turned anyone away. She would give her last and did without if she felt their need was greater than her own. Sheila was a mother, a giver, a spiritual guide, the rock for her family and others who needed her help. Sheila spent countless hours on the phone with family and friends in prayer or just laughing and talking. She loved to laugh, spending time with her family, watching the day time Soap Operas and game shows, reading magazines and newspaper, going shopping, to restaurants and the movies, listening to and singing her favorite hymns and other music. As anyone would know her favorite hymn was “I don’t know about tomorrow”, she sang it often throughout the day and when she called people for birthdays etc. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her! Sheila was preceded in death by her parents: Newton and Cicellia Cross, daughters: Anmarie Brown and Maria Brown, siblings: Alwin Cross, Sylvia Joseph, Agnis Cross, Clatous Cross, Elaine Sampson, Alston Cross, and Michael Cross. Survived by one sister: Mosena “Meadow” Wilson, four sons: Nevill Brown, Moses Brown, Francis Brown and Ian Brown, and a host of nieces, nephew, and grandchildren: Kalifa Brown-Menelik, Themba Brown, Nehemiah Brown, Atiba Brown, Jamila McClatchy, Gershom Brown, Makini Brown, Makadia Brown, Tesfa Brown, Adasina Brown, Naguse Brown, Bacary Brown, Brian Brown, Jamal Duncan, Jacob Brown, Jabrina Brown, Jose Gonzalez, Rafeal Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, Jose-Manual Gonzalez, Jacob Gonzalez, Alexandria Gonzalez, Ebony Gonzalez, Eve Gonzalez, Daniel Brown, Isiah Brown, Malachie Brown, David Brown and Joseph Brown and a host great grandchildren, family and friends who loved her.
