Special Info |
Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends,
We are gathered here today, united in both grief and love.
Not to mourn a life gone too soon; but rather to celebrate the vibrantly lived life of Natasha Dale Matthews.
Natasha was born on September 28,1987 in Penwood Road ,Jamaica, to parents Barrington Dale and Dionne Powell.
Tasha as she was affectionately known was the first of four girls and the third of all her siblings born to Dionne Powell.
Friendly, loving and jovial are just a few words you could use to describe the woman we’re remembering here today.
From a young age Tasha was a quick learner and excelled at everything she did.
Tasha's early years were spent growing up with her mother, brothers and sisters in Seaview Gardens, Jamaica, where she spent fun filled days on the beach, and nights in her community, or gathered at home with her very close knit family.
Tasha’s formative years were spent as a student at the Carmel basic School, Balmagie Primary School, then off to Penwood High School where she completed all her subjects.
Tasha continued her education at The Boys Town Training Center before going out into the world to become a mother to her one and only son Jauvan.
Wanting more for herself, her son, and her family, Tasha left Jamaica and migrated to Antigua with her sister Shamara. The sisters resided there for two years before returning to Jamaica where she spent the next several years as a doting mother, dedicated to raising her son.
In 2016, Natasha left Jamaica again. This time migrating to The United States Of America, to reunite with her sister Shamara.
As the first two members of their
family in the US, the sisters thought of nothing else but, striving to create a better life.
Shamara had conceived a plan, and Natasha immediately joined her to successfully accomplish their dream of reuniting their entire family to establish a new home in the US.
Tasha was an avid dancer.
She enjoyed every type of music; especially dancehall.
She also loved to party and always knew the latest dance moves. However, as she grew older, she developed a passion for the things of Christ and a devout love for gospel music.
Natasha's fondness for beautifying everything she touched translated into her profession as a hairstylist Doing hair and making people beautiful, was an example of the beauty within her that she wanted to share with the world.
Being the third of the seven children, Tasha was extremely family oriented and was especially endeared to her favorite nieces Paityn and Avery as well as her nephews Lj and Ayden.
Tasha’s son Jauvan was her pride and joy. She loved him more than anything and was extremely protective of him after becoming his sole provider in 2009 when he lost his father.
Tasha not only wanted the best for Jauvan, but would have given the world for her one and only son as well.
Amongst her many talents, Tasha was also an excellent sales person, who could skillfully sell water to the sea.
Whenever she wanted to convince you of something, her words were like wine and she would have you going along with any plan she could think of.
One of Natasha’s biggest dreams, was for her and her sister Shamara to own a huge family home, which they were about to purchase before she passed.
Another dream of hers was to own a boutique with her sisters, where she could hone her craft as a beautician, as well as utilize her exceptional marketing talent.
Tasha was not just a daughter but a sister, a mother an aunt, a confidant and a friend.
With her life cut short on June 8 2024 - Natasha leaves to mourn:
Her mother, her son, her sisters and brothers as well as her dad, her husband, her brother-in-laws, her nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends who will continue to carry her loving memory in their hearts and minds forever.
As we leave here today, let us celebrate the incredible legacy Natasha Dale Matthews has left behind. Through her unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and community, she made a lasting impact on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Looking forward to the days ahead, let us honor Tasha’s memory and keep her spirit alive in our loving thoughts and actions. In doing so, we ensure that Tasha's legacy will continue to live on. |
