Special Info |
Marjorie DeFreitas, also known as Nester, was born February 26, 1947 to the
late Lionel and Effie Williams on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago. She was
the eighth of nine children. Her formative years began in her birth village of Santa Cruz
Old Road where she obtained her elementary education at Bourg Mulatresse school in
San Juan.
Shortly after leaving school, Marjorie and her family relocated to Carapo Village,
Arima. She subsequently gained employment at the F-Plan company and then the
K-Factory where she remained for many years. There in Carapo she had her first born
Merle. Shortly after, she relocated back to Santa Cruz Old Road, the village where she
was born.
Marjorie met and married her late husband Antonio DeFreitas, AKA Tony, and
subsequently had three children; Kate, Antonio Jr., and Farrah (Nancy). Marjorie
eventually gained employment at the Ministry of Work. She and her late husband built a
beautiful house at 97 Santa Cruz Old Road. There, she was well known and loved by
everyone in the village.
Marjorie and her late husband Tony decided to migrate to the United States in the
quest for a better life for their family. She initially worked in housekeeping, and then
became a nanny. She worked as a nanny for the Stone family for over 18 years.
Marjorie developed a special relationship with the Stone’s. They loved and treated her
as part of their family. She shared a special bond with the children Ben and Rachel,
who loved her dearly.
Majorie also became very close to her sister Milleta who was already living in the
U.S. They became best friends and did almost everything together. She also had a
special relationship with her brother Emanuel who cooked for her on a regular basis, his
fish broth is the best. Her niece Alison was her partner in crime, as they say before she
devoted her life to God. Brenda, also her niece, was one of her go to people whom she
would call to confide in.
Marjorie was a member of Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church for
many years, where she loved and was loved by everyone. She was deeply committed
to her faith and was a lifelong active member of her church. Marjorie was a deaconess,
an usher, a member of the choir, community services, and women’s ministry. Marjorie
visited many Caribbean countries with the members of her church and privately with her
sister Milleta to feed and clothe those who were less fortunate. She also visited
orphanages in Trinidad where she did the same.
